The CANNES FILM FESTIVAL ended in style last night (20MAY01) with a host of stars turning out to celebrate the week-long event.
Actress MELANIE GRIFFITHs, accompanied by actor husband ANTONIO BANDERAS, was presented with a lifetime achievement award for her contribution to cinema.
Pregnant JODIE FOSTER also made an appearance, presenting the best director award jointly to cult film-maker DAVID LYNCH, and MULHOLLAND DRIVE (2001), and JOEL Coen and ETHAN COEN for MAN WHO WASN'T THERE, the (2001).
The top award, the PALME D'OR, went to Italian NANNI MORETTI for Stanza del figlio, La (2001) (THE SON'S ROOM) (IG/WNTEX/RP)
