Actress NICOLE KIDMAN was handed a tough task during the filming of MOULIN ROUGE (2001) - she had to convince her dad she hadn't gone mad.

The musical film, in which she stars alongside EWAN McGREGOR, required Kidman to wear a range of elaborate costumes, fishnet stockings and stiletto heels for her role as a French courtesan.

But the EYES WIDE SHUT (1999) star became so involved in her character, she often went home to prepare dinner for her children in costume - a sight which left her father far from impressed. She says, "We were shooting in Sydney, so my parents were 10 minutes from the studio. They'd often come down to my trailer to see me. "My dad walked in one day and looked at me in my fishnets and stilettos, making pasta for the kids and he said, 'This is weird. ' "I told him it was perfectly normal, but I guess you forget how weird the world you're fixed in can be. " (RGS/WNV/RP)
