ABC's Good Morning America, the Avis of morning talk shows, on Wednesday pointed up the fact that it's top-rated rival, NBC's Today, is pretaping its shows from Australia, not airing them live.

As reported by today's (Thursday) New York Daily News, NBC did not disclose the fact that Today was taped when it aired images of Matt Lauer and Katie Couric seated in bright sun Tuesday morning. (It's nighttime in Australia when Today airs.)

On Wednesday, during a chat between GMA host Charles Gibson in New York and ABC Sports' Robin Roberts in Sydney, the caption under Gibson's picture read, "GMA Really Live." The caption under Roberts' read, "Hey, it's really dark now."
