Bridget Jones's Diary Still Top Of British Box Office


CAPTAIN CORELLI'S MANDOLIN (2001) has failed to knock BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY (2001) off the top of the British Box Office. The romantic comedy has now spent four weeks at the top of the British chart. Bridget made $4. 5 million (£2. 7 million) over the Bank Holiday weekend (begs04MAY01), to take its British total to $39. 75 million (£26. 5 million). Captain Corelli, on its first weekend of release, made $2. 55 million (£1. 7 million). ALONG CAME A SPIDER (2001), which stars MORGAN FREEMAN, made it to number three with $975,000 (£650,000) while ROBERT RODRIGUEZ's SPY KIDS (2001) is at number four. (RP/WNWCAN/KMW)
