TOM HANKS is ready to hit BROADWAY - but as a producer rather than an actor.

The CAST AWAY (2000) star is in the process of turning his 1996 film THAT THING YOU DO! (1996) into a musical for the New York stage.

The story focuses on the quick rise and fall of the musical group THE WONDERS, whose catchy tune fuelled a quick rise to the top of the pop charts. The idea for turning the movie into a stage adaptation arose because schools barraged Hanks with requests to use the film as a basis for local productions. (MB/DV/MCM)
