FCC To Hold New Hearings On TV Violence, Sex.

FCC chairman Bill Kennard announced Tuesday that the commission intends to hold hearings next month related to the FTC report accusing the entertainment industry of marketing sex and violence to kids.

In a letter to a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers who have been longtime critics of TV and film fare, Kennard said: "The Federal Trade Commission report puts a needed spotlight on the marketing of violence to children and the effect of exposure to media violence," Mr. Kennard said. "In addition, as documented in the exhibits you submitted with your letter, recent studies indicated that television may influence children's sexual attitudes as well."
