Movie Plans Outrage Phantom Fans

Multi-millionaire impresario LORD Andrew LLOYD WEBBER is being faced with a revolt among his most loyal fans - over the film version of his hit musical THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.

The trouble has arisen over an interview the film's star ANTONIO BANDERAS gave, where he claimed the film would be creating "a completely different concept" and that a lot of the music from the theatre version had been cut out.

A coalition of enraged Phantom fans has now posted an open letter to the composer in industry mag VARIETY, saying, "Are you willing to turn your back on those millions of loyal fans who have supported the show for 15 years and ignore their pleas for a faithful adaptation of your phenomenally successful show?"

Lloyd Webber is said to be considering American teen pop babe JESSICA SIMPSON for the coveted lead role of CHRISTINE. (TM/WNBTE/NFA)
