No Expense Spared With Outrageous Promotion of AI

STEvEN SPIELBERG's web crew are set to stun with a complex teaser site for new movie A.I.: Artificial Intelligence (2001)

Publicity for the DREAMWORKS/WARNER BROTHERS blockbuster, which opens in America on 4 July (01), will send film freaks into a frenzy with a series of phoney sites based on characters believed to be taken from the closely guarded script.

HARRY KNOWLES, who runs famous movie web site AIN'T IT COOL, says, "It's the most ingenious movie setup yet. This is far better than the BLAIR WITCH PROJECT (1999) site. This has the feel of being written by a master storyteller."

Knowles believes the ruse to be the work of the same team that conceived MAJESTIC, the bizarre online game in which players are phoned, faxed and e-mailed at work and at home as part of a multiplayer murder mystery, reminiscent of the MICHAEL DOUGLAS movie GAME, the (1997.

Robot movie AI - which stands for Artificial Intelligence - is said to be the last brainchild of reclusive director STANLEY KUBRICK, who died in 1999 just before the opening of his final movie, the flopbuster EYES WIDE SHUT (1999). (KW/WNWCPS)
