A shattered KEANU REEVES carried the coffin of his late girlfriend JENNIFER SYME as she was laid to rest in Los Angeles on Friday morning (06APR01).

Syme was killed in a horrific car crash on Monday (02APR01), and, according to a police spokesman, she had been under doctor's care for the depression she suffered following the stillbirth of her and Keanu's baby daughter EVA in December 1999.

Keanu had released a statement saying he was mourning in private - but took a very public role in Jennifer's funeral, as a pall bearer.

An onlooker says, "Keanu was quite obviously torn up. He was sobbing as he carried her coffin. It was a very emotional time for him." (SVD&FH/WN/NFA)
