Movie legend ROBERT DE NIRO has criticised his fans for their obsessional behaviour.

In new film 15 MINUTES, De Niro plays a cop who uses the media to his advantage. The GODFATHER star is critical of the public's obsession with celebrity saying, "I think it's gotten worse. It sort of feeds on itself. The excuse is always that the public has right the know.

He likens the celebrity mania to narcotics adding, "It's like a drug deal: you give somebody the drugs, and if they're around, they're wanna go further and further, and they'll go as far as they think is possible." (ES/E/RP)
