LATEST: WALT DISNEY CO. confirmed yesterday (5Mar01) that it has agreed to buy rights to WINNIE THE POOH.
The lovable character was created by A.A. MILNE who used his son CHRISTOPHER ROBIN's toys as the basis for the adventures. The Disney company refused to comment on exact figures but industry insiders believe the new deal was worth £525million ($350million).
The deal will run to 2026 when the copyright runs out on the characters. (PDD/WNWR)
