Although he did not win a best picture Oscar nomination for Almost Famous -- as many critics had expected -- Cameron Crowe says that he was nevertheless "completely thrilled" that actresses Kate Hudson and Frances McDormand were each nominated for their supporting performances in his movie. "That was amazing," he said in an interview appearing in today's (Friday) New York Times. "You dream of getting Oscar nominations for your actors and actresses because then everyone wants to work with you." Crowe, although missing out also on a best director nomination, did receive one for best original screenplay.
