Two new films, both of them remakes, are in the unenviable position of having to open over the Presidents Day weekend against last week's box-office champ Hannibal.

Most critics figure they'll be eaten alive. Indeed, many analysts believe that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which placed second in total Oscar nominations last week (behind Gladiator) and which is adding 300 more theaters, should provide the biggest challenge to Hannibal.
