Hannibal Rating Sets Off Protests In Australia


The attorney general of Australia, Daryl Williams, has ordered an urgent review of the MA 15+ rating applied to Hannibal, which allows children to see it if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The film is due to open in the country today (Wednesday) even as calls for a more restrictive R 18+ rating mount. The film has attracted special attention in the state of Queensland (capital: Brisbane), where Censorship Minister Judy Spence has condemned it.

Meanwhile, Anthony Hopkins has confirmed that he is available to reprise the Hannibal Lecter film Speaking to reporters at the Berlin Film Festival, Hopkins said, "I would like to do one more sequel. ... Hopefully that will be fairly soon, maybe next year."
