XFL Gives TNN A Big Push

Last weekend's ratings for XFL games on NBC and UPN may have looked dismal for those two networks, but in the world of cable, where all things are relative, the XFL debut on TNN
Sunday was barely short of sensational. The game between the Birmingham Thunderbolts and the New York/New Jersey Hitmen attracted a cable rating of 2.4, representing an audience of 2.9 million. The TNN ratings were 359 percent higher than their average during the same period in the first quarter 2001 to date. Among adults 18-49, the results were even stronger -- a 579-percent increase.
