Black and White Audiences Move Closer In Likes

Thanks mostly to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, the number of TV shows that both white and black audiences regard as their favorites increased last year, according to a new study by New York-based media buyer TN Media.

The Tuesday and Thursday editions of the game show made the top-20 lists of both white and black viewers (despite the fact that barely a dozen non-celebrity black contestants have been featured on the show).

Also on both group's top-20 lists are ABC's Monday Night Football, NBC's E.R., ABC's the Practice and CBS's Touched by an Angel, 60 Minutes and Judging Amy. As recently as 1996 the two groups had only one show in common: Monday Night Football.
