Robert Carlyle's Homeless Days

Movie star ROBERT CARLYLE can't pass a homeless person without giving them money - because he once slept rough himself.

The TRAINSPOTTING star denies that he's as much of a method actor as other stars - but he once spent time as a homeless derelict to prepare for a part.

He says, "I slept rough for a week in London when I played a homeless person in SAFE. I slept round Waterloo. I just hung around and begged. I was able to pick up a couple of quid a day.

"
You really feel for homeless people. I can't pass them in the street without parting with some cash."
