BRUCE WILLIS became a movie star so he could get over the embarrassment of having a stutter.
The 45-year-old SIXTH SENSE star admits acting was the only thing which gave him confidence when he was growing up. He says, "I could hardly get a sentence out. When you're a stutterer, there's always this nagging feeling in the back of your head that you're making people uncomfortable because they want to help you or finish your sentence. "I didn't want my stutter to hold me back so I took part in a school play. Must have been eighth grade. I went onstage and it was miraculous. The stutter vanished." (MB/EQ/PDD)
