Film and television production in Ontario, the most populous province of Canada, topped $1 billion for the first time in 2000, the Ontario Media Development corporation said Tuesday. Most of the production was centered in or around Toronto and included 22 feature films, 50 TV series and 40 specials, TV movies and miniseries. Last year's figure of $1.01 billion is up 8.3 percent over the previous year and is more than twice the 1994 figure of $501 million.
