Star's Injury Halts Foster's Movie

Flora Plum -- the film that Jodie Foster reportedly wanted to direct so badly that she forfeited a lucrative offer to star in Hannibal, the sequel to Silence of the Lambs -- has been delayed indefinitely, the Hollywood Reporter said today (Thursday).

The postponement came after it was learned that Russell Crowe, who was set to star in the film opposite Claire Danes, seriously injured a shoulder while training for the film (he is cast as a circus freak) in Austin, TX, according to the trade paper.

Doctors have reportedly advised him that he will have to undergo surgery to repair the injury at the end of the month. The Reporter also quoted sources as saying that the filmmakers were deciding whether to replace Crowe or wait for him to recover. Production of the film had been scheduled to start in two weeks.
