Glaad Says It Won't Picket Schlessinger's Debut

Although members of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation say they have "infiltrated" tapings of Dr. Laura Schlessinger's upcoming Paramount-TV talk show, they have found little to complain about, the New York Daily News reported today (Thursday). "They've been very safe topics, no defamatory language against anyone. Certainly no mentions of gays and lesbians," GLAAD's Scott Seomin told the newspaper, adding that from the beginning, his organization has been demanding that Schlessinger "stop using rhetoric that's damaging to the gay and lesbian community. And from the shows we've seen in person, that's exactly what she has done." Seomin also indicated that GLAAD does not intend to demonstrate against the show when it debuts next week. "We have a strong belief that protesting on Monday will do nothing but spike her ratings," he said.
