Although the tenant and the landlord are essentially the same, ABC News is considering pulling some of its magazine programs out of a Disney-owned building in Times Square and relocating at ABC's studios in uptown New York, the New York Post reported today (Friday). The newspaper observed that ABC News pays Disney a premium to use the Times Square studios but would pay much less at the less-glamorous uptown location. A source told the newspaper that the move would be dictated by budget constraints. "When you're looking at these news magazines and the options are to cut assignments or cut crews and you have the option to move to a less expensive studio space -- it's something that everybody wants to consider," the source said.
