Juliette Lewis Emancipated To Escape Child Labour Law

Movie star JULIETTE LEWIS was legally emancipated from her parents when she was 14-years-old as a business deal - despite reports that she was divorcing her parents.

The star of NATURAL BORN KILLERS did it to escape the strict child labour laws which prohibited working over five hours a day on school days, under the supervision of a guardian.

She explains, "What people don't know, there was one story about a kid divorcing his parents. But the back story is a lot of young TV actors who were kids got emancipated just to get around the child labour laws.

"
So it's really sort of a business thing. It's not really that rare. I knew other people who did it. That's why me and my parents decided to do it." (RXM/WN/PDD)
