JACK NICHOLSON's new movie has been abruptly withdrawn from the BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL in a row over how much it costs.
THE PLEDGE, which sees the Hollywood star teaming up with British actresses HELEN MIRREN and VANESSA REDGRAVE, has fallen foul of a battle between its producer, FRANCHISE PICTURES, and the German distributor INTERTAINMENT. Depending on which side is talking, it cost either $55 million (£36.6 million) or $34 million (£22.6 million).
VARIETY, the American trade newspaper, said each side was accusing the other of dropping the film from the festival. (RP/WNBTE/MCM)
