Kodak is planning a major investment in multiplex theaters in China and will test the market with its $4-million Kodak Cinema World in Shanghai this spring, the Shanghai Star reported Friday.
"We have noticed the number of top-notch cinemas in China, including Shanghai, is quite small. Such a highly potential market is the ground for our project," Edman Chan, general manager of Shanghai Cinema World Co. Ltd., which is co-venturing the project with Kodak, told the newspaper. Chan predicted that the new theater will draw between 500,000 and 600,000 moviegoers annually.
