CNN Makes Drastic Cuts In L.A Bureau

This week's firings at CNN, part of the overall retrenchment ordered at AOL Time Warner (see separate article in Film column), has hit the Los Angeles bureau particularly hard, the New York Post reported today (Wednesday).

The newspaper said that four of the news network's six L.A. correspondents were let go including Greg LaMotte, who was captured during the Gulf War and Jim Hill, who barely escaped capture at the same time. "These are guys who put it on the line," an unnamed colleague told the Post. "They went as far as they could go for journalism and for CNN and boom, they're outta there."
