The dress worn by MARILYN MONROE while singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to American President JOHN F. KENNEDY is being auctioned.
The star's breathless version of the song in 1962 to Kennedy, who enjoyed an affair with the sex symbol, shocked onlookers with its overtly sexual delivery. The dress is expected to fetch up to $31,500 (£21,000) on SOTHEBYS.COM, at the auction which runs from 8 February (01) until 1 March (01).
A typed letter from the WHITE HOUSE thanking Monroe for agreeing to appear at the 45th birthday party should fetch up to $21,000 (£14,000). (TM/WNSMA/CPT)
