CBS's last Survivor series, which featured a contest won by an openly gay man, and NBC's The West Wing, which has presented several dramas dealing with anti-gay discrimination, have been singled out for special honors at the 12th annual GLAAD Media Awards.
The group also announced nominees in film and TV categories. In the TV drama field, the nominees included: Showtime's Queer as Folk, MTV's Undressed and The WB's Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dawson's Creek and Felicity. Nominees for outstanding comedy series were NBC's Will & Grace, Showtime's Beggars and Choosers, Telemundo's Los Beltran and The WB's Popular. The awards are handed out to honor "fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community."
