Football Helps CBS Score Sunday Win

An overrun of CBS's telecast of an AFC championship game Sunday night produced a mighty 18.2 rating and a 30 share for the network in the 7:00-7:30 p.m. time period. Combined with a 12.2/19 for 60 Minutes which followed, the network easily won the top ratings for the night, a 10.9/17. In second place with a 9.9/15 was ABC, whose Who Wants to Be a Millionaire was the highest-rated regular program during primetime, pulling a 13.2/19. Fox placed third with a 6.8/10, helped by an 8.5/13 rating for The Simpsons. (The network ranked first for the night among viewers 18-49.) NBC finished fourth for the night with a 6.3/10, helped a replay of the hit movie Men in Black.
