Film Drama For Tolkien Family

The upcoming release of three films based on JRR TOLKIEN's LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY, will devastate his family according to the writer's son.

The first film, THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, is due to be released later this year (01), and will star SIR IAN MCKELLEN, SIR IAN HOLM, CATE BLANCHETT, LIV TYLER and SEAN BEAN. It's arrival has been eagerly awaited by many, but not by the Tolkiens.

According to FATHER JOHN TOLKIEN, his family will be forced into hiding by the attention of crazed fans of his father's work. The worried 83-year-old says, "The Tolkien family is under perpetual abuse of one kind or another. It goes on all the time. "I am anticipating endless bother when the film actually comes out."

JRR Tolkien, who died in 1973, was against the commercialisation of his work - but the film rights to the Lord of the Rings have not been owned by the family since the Sixties, so the film's makers NEW LINE CINEMA don't have to consult them on the making of the movie. (KAB/WNSTE/KW)
