Indian Cops Say They Have Recorded Evidence Against Producer

A host of criminal charges were filed against Indian film producer Nazim Rizvi Thursday following his arrest the previous day in a sting operation. Prosecutors in Mumbai said that over a two-month period they had recorded conversations between the Bollywood producer and known Indian mobster Chhota Shakeel, who operates out of Karachi, Pakistan. Today's (Friday) Times of India reported that police have evidence that Rizvi used his underworld connections to threaten actors to appear in his films, ordered producers to postpone the release of their films so that they would not compete with his and had conspired with Shakeel to murder certain Indian film stars. Prosecutors declined to disclose the names of the film personalities.
