Vivendi Universal Comes To Life


Vivendi's acquisition of Seagram was completed Friday, and shares of the new Vivendi Universal began trading on the Paris and New York stock exchanges today (Monday). Vivendi Universal shares were the most actively traded on the Paris Bourse, falling 1.3 euros, or 1.7 percent, to 73.9 euros. Meanwhile, today's (Monday) Wall Street Journal reported that USA Networks' Barry Diller plans to use the cash generated from the sale of his television stations to Univision to acquire additional cable-TV networks and Internet businesses with Vivendi.
