Anna Kendrick is set to direct the adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" at Netflix.

Based on Reid's sensational New York Times bestselling novel, the film follows a young journalist’s long awaited interview with Evelyn Hugo, an aging Hollywood starlet, who pulls back the curtain on her seven marriages, and as she tells tales of Hollywood scandals, betrayals, and woe, she unveils shocking truths about her own life and the lives of everyone around her.

The book has been a hot property since its publication in 2017. It’s already spent over 120 weeks in a row on the New York Times bestseller list. The book was initially planned as a series for Freeform before Netflix secured the rights for a film adaptation.

Kendrick is best known as an actress in "Pitch Perfect" and the "Twilight" saga. She made her directorial debut with "Woman of the Hour", which Netflix shelled out eight figures to land at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival. Kendrick will appear next on screen in Chris Rock's drama "Misty Green" and Lauren Miller Rogen's comedy "Babies". Deadline first reported the news of Kendrick's hiring.
