Vin Diesel has confirmed that the final entry in the Fast and Furious franchise will be titled Fast Forever and release on March 17th, 2028.
The news broke via Vin Diesel's Instagram account. The series star and producer announced the news with a photo of himself with Paul Walker, his late co-star, in the original The Fast and the Furious movie from 2001.
"No one said the road would be easy… but it's ours," Diesel wrote in the post's caption. "One that has defined us and become our legacy… And a legacy… lasts forever."
Furious 7 was released after Walker's death and dedicated to his memory. Diesel has previously stated that Walker's Brian would return in the final film (his character left the franchise, but did not die in the films). How that would happen remains unclear, but there has been speculation that Walker's brother Cody could step into the role or that CGI could be used to bring Brian back.
Diesel has been a vocal proponent of completing the Fast & Furious franchise even when it looked as if the studio was less confident about wrapping it up. He has already revealed that the film will return to Los Angeles for its finale, harkening back to the roots of the first film.
