The producers of the upcoming Beatles biopics have officially announced what actresses will play the Fab Four's famed significant others in the 2028-bound movies.
Mia McKenna-Bruce will star as Maureen Cox, the wife of Ringo Starr; Anna Sawai will be Yoko Ono, John Lennon's wife; and Aimee Lou Wood will be Pattie Boyd, who married George Harrison. They join Saoirse Ronan who was earlier cast as Linda McCartney.
Several were already rumored, but deals only closed this week with this announcement now formalised. Mendes said in a statement:
"Maureen, Linda, Yoko and Pattie are four fascinating and unique figures in their own right - and I'm thrilled that we've managed to persuade four of the most talented women working in film today to join this amazing adventure."
Each of the women played an important role in The Beatles' lives. Maureen Cox met Ringo Starr at the Cavern Club in 1962 before they married in 1965 and had three children together.
Linda Eastman was already a well-known photographer when she met Paul McCartney in 1967, and they later formed the band Wings after The Beatles broke up. Yoko Ono and John Lennon met at one of her art shows in London, beginning a partnership that became both romantic and creative. Pattie Boyd, a model, met George Harrison on the set of A Hard Day’s Night and shared his growing interest in Eastern spirituality.
The four films will each focus on a different Beatle, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison, and John Lennon, with Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, and Harris Dickinson playing the band members.
