Bradley Cooper is in negotiations to star in the Ocean’s Eleven prequel opposite Margot Robbie.
While nothing is concrete, it makes sense why the Guardians star is in talks to star opposite Robbie, as the franchise is notable for its star-studded stature. Although the plot remains under wraps, which is fitting for a movie centered around a heist, the filming is reportedly set to commence next year.
Cooper has reportedly been close with Robbie for years and long wanted to work with her; the two Oscar nominees have yet to star in any movies together. This news comes ahead of Bradley's next directorial venture, the comedy Is This Thing On? starring himself, Will Arnett, and Laura Dern, hitting theaters on December 19.
Cooper is also known for starring in and/or directing American Sniper, A Star Is Born, Silver Linings Playbook, and Maestro. Following her breakout with The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie's star power has only grown, leading to the cultural phenomenon of Barbie.
Details on the script by Carrie Solomon are being kept under wraps, but when the project was first announced in 2022, it was known to be an original Ocean’s Eleven tale that was set in Europe in the 1960s.
The Ocean’s franchise is one of the studio’s biggest film series, having earned over $1.4 billion at the box office. Ocean’s 13, the most recent to star Pitt and Clooney, came out in 2007. The three films in the franchise grossed over $420 million at the domestic box office. The female-fronted Ocean’s 8 bowed in 2018 and grossed nearly $300 million globally.
Elsewhere in the Ocean’s universe, George Clooney and Brad Pitt will return for Ocean’s 14, which will be directed by Fall Guy helmer David Leitch.
