Dave Bautista is set to join the cast of the upcoming sequel to Amazon MGM's action film "Road House".
While many details about the story are still secret, Bautista is expected to play a former fighter, a role similar to Jake Gyllenhaal’s character from the first movie.
In the 2024 movie, Jake, 41, played an ex-UFC fighter who took a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems. The movie was a remake of the 1989 movie of the same name, which starred the late Patrick Swayze.
A change in directors will also happen with Road House 2. Gyllenhaal's movie was directed by Doug Liman, but it was previously reported that Guy Ritchie was taking over as the director of the sequel. Will Beall (Bad Boys: Ride or Die) is penning the screenplay.
Bautista rose to fame as one of WWE's most popular stars before making the transition to Hollywood. His casting as Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies helped put Bautista on the map, leading to many other major castings. With his performance in the more dramatic Knock at the Cabin, some fans have praised Bautista as the best former wrestler turned actor. He is also known for other films, including Dune, Blade Runner 2049, Army of the Dead, and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
