Ryan Gosling Is In Talks To Lead New Star Wars Movie From Director Shawn Levy.

The “Barbie” and “La La Land” star Ryan Gosling is in negotiations to star in an untitled "Star Wars" movie to be directed by "Deadpool & Wolverine" filmmaker Shawn Levy.

The filmmaker's script is said to have been in the works for over a year, but as of now, no story details have been released. It's not clear how the film will relate to any other Star Wars movies or TV shows, or what period of time it may even be set in.

Levy is also producing the feature via his 21 Laps banner, which also produces Netflix’s smash hit series "Stranger Things". 21 Laps will work in collaboration with Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm.

Currently, the only upcoming Star Wars movie that's actually committed a scene to celluloid is The Mandalorian and Grogu, which wrapped production last October and is on course for a May 2026 release.

For Gosling, joining the "Star Wars" galaxy marks a significant turning point in his career, which hasn’t included the kind of marquee franchise project that so many of his leading man compatriots already have under their belts. He’ll next appear in the sci-fi thriller "Project Hail Mary" from directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, based on the bestseller by Andy Weir.
