Academy Award-winning actor Jared Leto could play the skull-faced, blue-skinned thorn in He-Man’s side. Leto would command his army of iconic henchmen while shaking his fist and cackling, wielding influence and magic like the malevolent sorcerer fans know him to be.
He-Man's nemesis was played by Frank Langella in the previous live-action movie, and voiced by Star Wars legend Mark Hamill in the recent Netflix Masters of the Universe Revelations series.
After numerous false starts, Netflix was all set to develop a feature take on the beloved animated series back in 2022, but we recently got word that the latest attempt to get the project off the ground had also fallen by the wayside.
While it remains to be seen if Leto plans on pushing forward in the franchise, the live-action adaptation is already painting a picture for fans of what they can expect in its slated 2026 release.
With Leto's Skeletor, he will be working alongside Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Nicholas Galitzine's Prince Adam aka He-Man the main protagonist of the story, and lastly, Camila Mendes as He-Man's potential love interest, Teela.
Leto is an interesting choice, given his complicated history of playing villains on the big screen. Leto’s Joker from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad is the most divisive incarnation of the classic character, and his Michael Morbius of Sony’s Morbius was panned universally by Spider-Man fans.
