Sydney Sweeney is being considered to join Glen Powell in Edgar Wright's upcoming remake of the sci-fi action feature "The Running Man".
There are a number of characters from the book she could play, but we'd say Ben's hostage, Amelia Williams, is the most likely possibility.
A new adaptation of the 1982 Stephen King novel is set in an America under a totalitarian regime that uses violent game shows to placate the disenfranchised masses.
One desperate man, needing money for his sick daughter, joins the most popular show in which teams of killers hunt down contestants. The longer one survives, the more money that person makes.
Shooting on the project is aiming to begin in October in London, which will be after Sweeney films her work in David Michod’s upcoming Christy Martin biopic.
Wright co-writes the script with Michael Bacall while Nira Parkl and Simon Kinberg produce.
Sweeney is fast-becoming one of the most sought-after young actors in Hollywood after starring in the likes of Anyone But You and Immaculate, and is also set to play the title role in another upcoming Edgar Wright sci-fi re-adaptation, Barbarella.
