ABC Nightline Producers Sell Special To PBS

In an unusual collaboration expected to be announced today (Monday), ABC Nightline host Ted Koppel and correspondent Chris Bury will appear in a two-hour special about the Clinton administration on PBS's Frontline, according to the New York Times.

The Times said that Nightline producers sold the special to Frontline in a deal that, the Times observed, "reflects the sense of inevitable decline felt by many in broadcast news."

The newspaper also described the arrangement as "sleeping with the enemy" and said that it resulted from the apparent need for network news operations to find alternative sources of revenue as they face declines in ad sales and potential budget cuts.
