Actor HUGH GRANT has just bought a new house - just four door away from the home he used to share with ex-lover ELIZABETH HURLEY.

The NOTTING HILL star, 40, has sent in builders to convert the three-storey house in Chelsea, south-west London to his taste, after paying almost $3 million (£2 million) for it. Since they announced the end of their 13-year romance earlier this year (00), they continue to be seen in public together, they have holidayed together and they celebrated Hugh's 40th birthday as a couple.

Liz, 35, says, "Hugh hasn't moved in yet, but when he does, it will be easy for him to watch what's going on. He could easily spy on me." (RGS/WNTMA/PDD)
