Paul Mescal is rumored to be taking on the role of a Beatle in new biopics by Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes. The director is set to be at the helm of four different films, one dedicated to each member of The Beatles.
Sony and Oscar-winning filmmaker Mendes’ ambitious plans to make four separate theatrical films, one on each of the members of The Beatles, certainly turned heads when it was announced last February.
"I'm honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies." Mendes previously said.
Filming is expected to begin in 2025 in the United Kingdom, while all four movies will be released in 2027.
Mendes is producing the films alongside Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor, while Jeff Jones serves as an executive producer.
"We intend this to be a uniquely thrilling, and epic cinematic experience: four films, told from four different perspectives which tell a single story about the most celebrated band of all time," Harris said. "To have The Beatles’ and Apple Corps’ blessing to do this is an immense privilege. From our first meeting with Tom Rothman and Elizabeth Gabler, it was clear that they shared both our passion and ambition for this project, and we can’t think of a more perfect home than Sony Pictures."
Elsewhere, Academy Award-nominated Mescal is due to appear as the lead in Ridley Scott's highly anticipated Gladiator II later this year, the sequel to the 2000 box office smash featuring Russell Crowe.
