Sarah Polley In Talks To Direct Disney's New Bambi Film.

Academy Award winner Sarah Polley is in talks to direct a live-action remake of Walt Disney's "Bambi" . Details on the project are scarce, but she will work off a recent screenplay draft penned by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster and the film will be a musical featuring music from Kacey Musgraves.

Disney had been hoping to make a live-action “Bambi” as far back as 2020 when they hired Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer aboard as writers, along with the aforementioned Depth Of Field producers.

Released in 1942, Disney's Bambi is based on the 1923 novel Bambi, a Life in the Woods by Felix Salten. The movie follows Bambi, a white-tailed deer and his pals in the forest following the tragic killing of his mother. It was nominated for three Oscars at the time and has since become one of the most revered Disney movies of all time. It was added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress in 2011 for its place in cinema history.

Before writing and directing Women Talking, Polley had also helmed the feature film Away from Her, which was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Oscars in 2008. She also wrote and directed Take This Waltz and Stories We Tell, as well as episodes for the TV shows The Shields Stories and Hey Lady!. Polley has also acted in various projects, which includes roles in films like Dawn of the Dead, Mr. Nobody, and Trigger.
