Ryan Reynolds and Sir Kenneth Branagh to star in 'Mayday'.

Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh are teaming up for the action-adventure "Mayday" from "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.

The feature is based on an original pitch from Goldstein and Daley, who came to Skydance earlier this year with the idea and had been developing prior to Apple’s involvement. Once Reynolds showed interest in April to join the pic, Mayday started gaining serious momentum and while a start date is still undetermined, seems likely this could be the next thing Reynolds shoots.

The Academy Award-winning Branagh will join this action feature on the back of appearing in Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated film, Oppenheimer starring Cillian Murphy in the lead role.

Reynolds previously worked with Apple on Christmas musical "Spirited" which at the time was the biggest film to premiere on Apple+ in the studio’s history. He also worked with Skydance on the Netflix sci-fi feature "The Adam Project".

Hailing from a first-look partnership between Apple and Skydance Media, Mayday will be produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger alongside Reynolds, Ashley Fox, Johnny Pariseau and Patrick Gooing for Maximum Effort. In addition to writing and directing, Goldstein and Daley will serve as producers. Carin Sage will oversee the project for Skydance.

The film also reunites Apple with Reynolds, who starred in the hit Christmas musical Spirited, which bowed on Thanksgiving. It also starred Will Ferrell and at the time was the biggest film to premiere on Apple TV+. He also has strong ties with Skydancem which produced his hit Netflix sci-fi adventure The Adam Project.
