Legendary CBS Newsman Trout Dead At 91

Former CBS newsman Robert Trout, whose ability to ad lib as if he were reading from a finely crafted script placed him at the sidelines of many of the century's greatest events, died Tuesday in New York at the age of 91.

The cause was congestive heart failure. He had been active until the end, narrating special features for NPR's All Things Considered and participating only last August in CBS Radio's coverage of the Republican National Convention.
