Pedro Pascal to star in Weapons from Barbarian director Zach Cregger.

Pedro Pascal will star in New Line’s Weapons from the filmmakers behind 2022’s critically acclaimed breakout hit Barbarian.

"Barbarian" filmmaker Zach Cregger penned and is directing the film. Whilst plot specifics are under wraps, it is dubbed an "interrelated, multi-story horror epic" with a tone akin to Paul Thomas Anderson’s 1999 ensemble feature "Magnolia".

The film was the subject of a major bidding war in January as Hollywood studios and streamers fought for the chance to work with Cregger. New Line ultimately won the auction with a deal that included a guaranteed green light and theatrical release.

Pascal's role is a mystery right now and the cameras should be rolling in the autumn. Which still leaves time for the actor to squeeze in work on Ridley Scott's Gladiator sequel and has Pedro Almodovar’s short film Strange Way Of Life debuting at Cannes plus a role in Ethan Coen's Drive-Away Dolls due later this year.

Ever since Pascal’s time on Game of Thrones, the actor has quickly risen to A-list status. His list of credits include Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Narcos, Wonder Woman 1984, Triple Frontier, We Can Be Heroes and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. However, his roles as Din Djarin on The Mandalorian and Joel Miller on The Last of Us has cemented Pascal as a genre icon.
