Mia Goth is set to join Mahershala Ali in Marvel Studios' upcoming Blade movie.

The Marvel Studios film stars Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as the title vampire slayer, directed by Yann Demange from a script by Emmy nominee Michael Starrbury, which is said to be "darker than most MCU movies."

The project is back on track after losing the film’s original director, Bassam Tariq, in September last year over creative differences right before filming was to begin in Atlanta.

The 'Blade' reboot was first announced at the 2019 Comic-Con, where Marvel Studio chief Kevin Feige surprised Hall H by announcing Ali would take up the mantle of the infamous daywalker after Wesley Snipes played the Marvel Comics character in three films between 1998 and 2006.

Other recent projects that starred Goth include the slasher from A24 X and its sequel Pearl, both of which were released in 2022. Her performances in both Pearl and Infinity Pool were highly praised. Currently, the third film in the series from the director Ti West titled MaXXXine recently began filming in California.

The vampire-slaying character was created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan, introduced in July 1973’s The Tomb of Dracula #10. Wesley Snipes played Blade across three films from 1998 through 2004, and he was played by Sticky Fingaz in a short-lived TV series.
