Comdex, the largest computer trade show, kicked off in Las Vegas Sunday night with a keynote address by Bill Gates. One hundred thousand visitors are expected to make their way through 2,300 exhibits, several of which take penmanship to the nth degree. For example, new storage devices, shaped like pens, allow consumers to carry up to 32 MBs of data in their shirt pockets -- enough for hundreds of photos and even video presentations. Another pen device includes an infrared transmitter that allows a person to send notes or drawings to a computer up to 30 feet away.
