Prince's TV Role

British royal PRINCE CHARLES is set to grace the streets of Britain's longest running soap opera - when he appears in CORONATION STREET.

Bosses of the popular show, which screens on the ITV channel, hope to film him walking down the street as part of a storyline. The 52-year-old Prince has already agreed to visit the show's Manchester, England, studios on 8 December (00) - a day before the soap's 40th birthday.

And Charles is already being written into an episode in which TV character AUDREY ROBERTS says, "Prince Charles is visiting tomorrow, didn't you know." An insider on the programme adds, "Senior production executives are looking at ways in which Prince Charles could have a role in the Street. "Various ideas are being floated about how to get him into the plot. It would be fabulous if this comes off. "He's a big fan and the ideal choice to mark the anniversary."

Among other celebrities to have cameo roles in the soap are pop star CLIFF RICHARD and stage actor MICHAEL CRAWFORD.
